Application Architecture Domain

An EA, working within the Application Architecture Domain, focuses on how software solutions work within the enterprise. The criteria established by the overall State technology strategies inform the design of a technology solution, and it is the responsibility of the EA to assess how well an application satisfies both the business need within the strategic framework. During project execution, the EA is responsible for assessing deviations from the approved architecture and issuing exemptions when necessary.

The EA is also focused on the interoperability of applications, and their mapping back to capabilities and processes identified by the business. To accomplish this, the EA gathers artifacts such as Application Diagrams, Application Service Manuals, Maturity Matrices, Gap Analyses, and User Interface Documents.

Additionally, EAs are responsible for ensuring that licensing meets the needs of the business and satisfies the State Enterprise Architecture Principles.
